The short version
- Metric stores only what its features need: server settings, Discord user IDs, balances, points and short-lived copies of messages.
- To power logs, deleted-message tracking, link protection and quizzes, Metric reads message content in servers where it is present. Message copies used for deleted-message logs are removed automatically after 48 hours.
- Text you send to the AI assistant is processed by third-party AI providers. Your user ID and username are not sent with it.
- We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
- You can ask us to access or delete your data at any time (see Section 9).
1Who we are and what this policy covers
Metric is operated by Metric network ("we", "us" or "our"). This policy covers the Metric bot in Discord servers and direct messages, and this website (together, the "Service"). You can contact us through our support server.
Discord is a separate service operated by Discord Inc. Your use of Discord is governed by Discord's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, not by this policy.
Server administrators. The owners and administrators of a server decide which Metric features are enabled there and in which channels log entries are posted. We process information on their behalf to provide those features. If you have a question about what is logged in a particular server, please also ask that server's administrators.
2Information we collect
Information provided by Discord
When Metric is in your server, or when you use one of its commands, Discord provides us with identifiers and basic profile details. These include your user ID, username, avatar, the server's ID and name, and the IDs of channels, roles and messages involved in an action. We also see the server permissions needed to run a command.
Server settings
Administrators choose settings that we store for their server: log channels and on/off switches, ignored channels and roles, link-protection settings (including the action taken), AI chat settings (enabled state, channel, language and whether mentions trigger a reply), the Hadith posting channel, schedule and role mention, role shop settings (prices, perks, ticket category, logs and ratings channels), the server language and, for Premium servers, a custom nickname, avatar, banner and bio. We also record which user last changed certain settings.
Message content
Metric needs Discord's Message Content access to work. It uses message content in three ways:
- Temporary message copies. In servers where Metric can read messages, it keeps a copy of each message sent by a member so that a deletion can be shown in the server's log. The copy contains the text, attachment links, the author's ID and username, and the channel and server IDs. Copies are deleted automatically after 48 hours, or earlier once the deletion has been logged.
- Live processing. Metric reads messages as they arrive to detect links and Discord invites when link protection is on, to recognize greetings, dhikr phrases and correct quiz answers, and to apply short spam limits held only in memory. Nothing from this processing is kept beyond what this policy describes.
- AI prompts. Described below.
Economy, points and purchases
To run Metric Bank we store your user ID, your virtual currency balance, the time of your last daily reward and a record of each transfer or reward (sender, recipient, amount, type, source and time). For the Hadith and dhikr features we store your Adhkar points against your user ID; these points are not tied to a single server. Role shop ratings are stored as a star score linked to a purchase and a server, and each purchase record is posted to the logs channel the server has chosen.
Server activity logs
If administrators turn logging on, Metric posts entries to the channels they choose. These describe events such as deleted messages, reactions, members joining or leaving, nickname and role changes, bans, kicks and timeouts, AutoMod actions, changes to channels, roles, server settings, emojis, stickers, invites and threads, and voice channel activity. These entries live in Discord under the server's control. We do not keep a separate copy.
AI chat
When AI chat is enabled and you write in the AI channel, or mention Metric where mentions are allowed, the text of your message is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a reply. The request contains your message text and Metric's fixed instructions. It does not include your user ID or username. We do not store AI conversations in our database, but the provider processes the text under its own terms.
Direct messages
Metric does not read your direct messages. It sends a direct message only when a server administrator uses the summon command to call you to a channel. That message contains the administrator's mention, an optional note and a link to the channel.
Bank API for approved bots
Approved third-party bots can use a private API key to look up balances, move funds between users and grant the daily reward on a user's behalf. Those bots receive the user IDs and balances involved in their requests. We record each transfer or reward as a transaction.
This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and it loads no resources from third parties. Our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and requested page, for security and reliability.
3Information we do not collect
We do not ask for passwords, payment card details or government identification through the Service. We do not read direct messages you send to other people. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone below the minimum age required to use Discord.
4How we use information
- To provide and operate the features that administrators and members choose to use.
- To apply the protection settings a server has configured, such as removing links or timing out a member.
- To keep balances accurate and to detect and prevent abuse, fraud and misuse of the economy, the role shop and the Bank API.
- To troubleshoot problems, secure the Service and improve how it works.
- To answer support requests and to communicate important changes.
- To meet legal obligations and to protect our rights and the rights and safety of others.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.
5Legal bases
If the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies to you, we process personal data on these bases: to perform the service that administrators and members ask us to provide; for our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the Service and preventing abuse, which we balance against your rights; and to comply with legal obligations. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
6How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We also do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used in California law.
7How long we keep information

8Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections, restricted access to our database and administration tools, revocable API keys for the Bank API, and encryption of certain stored configuration identifiers. No online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
9Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent. California residents may also request to know what we collect and to delete it, and will not be treated differently for using these rights.
How to make a request. Contact us on the support server from the Discord account the request concerns, so we can verify it. We respond within 30 days, or sooner if the law requires. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your written permission.
Other choices.
- Server administrators can turn off logging, link protection, AI chat, Hadith posting and the role shop at any time, and can remove Metric from their server.
- To avoid the AI assistant, do not write in the AI channel and do not mention Metric where mentions are allowed.
- You can delete your own messages on Discord. Any temporary copy held by Metric is removed automatically within 48 hours.
- If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you may complain to your local data protection authority.
10Children
Metric is intended for people who meet Discord's minimum age, which is 13, or higher where local law requires. We do not knowingly collect personal information from younger children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11International transfers
We and our providers may process information in countries other than your own, for example the United States and China in the case of AI providers. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we will announce it on the support server or on this website. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, that means you accept the updated policy, where the law allows.
